George went to a fruit market with certain amount of money.
George went to a fruit market with certain amount of money. With this money he can buy either 50 oranges or 40 mangoes. He retains 10% of the money for taxi fare and buys 10 mangoes. How many oranges can he buy?
Answer/Solution
20
Steps/Work
Let the amount of money be 200
Let cost of 1 Orange be 4
Let cost of 1 mango be 5
He decides to retain 10% of 200 = 20 for taxi fare, so he is left with 180
He buys 20 mangoes ( @ 5) so he spends 100
Money left is 80 (180 - 100)
No of oranges he can buy = 80/4 =>20
So, George can buy 10 Oranges.
